The study explains how naira devaluation policies drive emigration from Nigeria. Two theories relevant to the study which are empowerment and the push-pull theory were synthesized to explain the study. The synthesis of the theories and as applied to the study is that despite the fact that empowerment theory seeks to encourage the engagement of the people in the development of their community or state, and through different measures they are exposed to, the problem is that the empowerment is conditioned by factors such as government policies, which act as push and pull for member of a state. The study adopted descriptive research design and information were obtained from secondary sources on issues of exchange rate policy, minimum wage, naira value to US dollar. Data obtained were presented using table. The study noted that the continuous devaluation of the naira is the main push factor for potential emigrants in Nigeria. The study concluded that the continuous pressure of emigration in the country is influenced by the value of the naira. The study recommended the return of the naira to the pegged system of foreign exchange.
